ON THE WEEKEND of March 24-25,
roughly 2,000 modelers gathered at the
Monroe, Washington, Fairgrounds for a
show and swap meet that was hosted by
John Fogelsong.
First place for Best Civilian went to Bob
Benjamin for his Taylorcraft.
The event was well planned and this
site allowed for demonstrations of electric
aircraft and cars. These demonstrations
drew a good crowd—one that stayed to
watch even in the light rain.
The layout for the swap shop allowed
for easy access to all the areas and there
was good food service.
I heard many great comments about the
meet and everyone seemed to be enjoying
themselves. A District XI meeting was
held on site and we hope to be able to do
this again here.
Until next time. Bruce.

Tom Randal’s Corsair (above) was my favorite. Below is
Tom’s Texan. Both are outstanding aircraft.
This photo is for all of you flatlanders. These are the Cascade Mountains and we have a
corner on that market.
Our host, John Fogelsong, ran an
auction on Sunday that was one
of the high points of the event.
Someone suggested that he
recruit Gary Weaver to do the
auction next year. I didn’t think
he did that bad—kind of!
