AT THE TIME of this writing, things are
kind of quiet around the area. Fall usually
allows for some good flying, but this year
we have had quite a bit of wind, grounding
many of us.
With winter comes some great
opportunities to get to some shows. The
AMA Expo in Ontario, California, is
amoung the best you can find, and the Expo
in Monroe, Washington, continues to grow
each year.

For all of you CL fliers the Northwest, the
Regional Control Line Championships held
at the Eugene, Oregon, airport continues to
grow with contestants coming from across
the West Coast.
John Thompson and Mike Hazel are two
of the movers and shakers of this event. For
more information go to http://flyinglines.org
/nwregionals.08.html.
At last year’s event, two of the expert
Precision Aerobatics fliers with their
airplanes were Howard Rush (L) of Bellevue
WA, with his Impact and Phil Granderson
(R) of Oakland CA, with his Concours ’d
Elegance winning Diva. Bruce Hunt photo.
The Red Apple Flyers in Wenatchee,
Washington, will be holding the club’s
spring event at its new home, just down the
road from the old site. This will be one of
the best flying sites in the country. If you
haven’t seen it you will be blown away.
This proves what a lot of hard work and
teamwork can accomplish. I am proud to
know these guys. I have included a few
photos of last year’s event courtesy of the
club’s Web site at www.redappleflyers.org/.
The first full week of June is the Float Fly at
Salmon Arm, British Columbia. I get
numerous requests about this event and it is
the first thing to go on my calander.
We have a good representation from our
district at both the spring and fall events.
Great hosts, a huge beach, and many
campfires make this a must-attend event. If
you have never flown floats before, don’t
worry. There are many people glad to help
answer questions and share ideas.
If you have yet to attend the events in the
Kalispell and Whitefish, Montana, area, here
again is a great group of fliers and a beautiful
site with the Glacier Park as a backdrop.
I know I have left off many other wonderful
events; there are too many to mention. I
would like to invite your club to share with
all of us stories of your events. I am always
looking for events to share in our column
with other modelers.
You will never find a greater group of
people than fliers, so get out there and make
some new friends.
Keep your airspeed up. Bruce
