JOYCE HAGER has another chance to
get out of the “hot seat.” She gave up the
Acting Executive Director’s position on
December 1, 2006. Joyce is now the Staff
Director. She will serve directly under the
Executive Director and be available to
share with him the expertise and
knowledge of AMA’s operation that she
knows so well. She should continue to be a
tremendous asset to AMA.
AMA’s new Executive Director is Jim
Cherry. He comes to AMA from Florida;
therefore, the balmy, 20-25° weather that
Muncie, Indiana, often has in the winter is not
exactly his idea of time to take off and go
swimming! Jim said he has seen snow three
times in his life before coming to Muncie and
he has already passed that record.
Jim is looking forward to meeting and
working with the staff to solve the problems
that might arise at AMA.
The current membership drive is going
well. Renewals and new memberships are
ahead of last year. This may be in part
because of the option of renewing online.
We hope to improve that service in the
future. Our Web site is constantly being
reviewed and improved to better serve the
membership.
AMA’s financial condition is excellent. We
have more money than was budgeted at this
time last year and the stock market is doing
well.
The books are closed at year-end and
when the auditor’s report is available, we
will post it on the Web site.
As I write this, I am planning to attend the
AMA Convention in Ontario, California. I
hope I had a chance to speak with many of
you there.
For those who were unable to attend, the
event will be featured in MA.
