IF YOU HAVEN’T viewed the District I
Web site recently, you will be pleased to
know that the site design, presentation, and
content are all new. This is your Web site
and connection to the clubs, members,
activities, and events throughout District I.
Take some time to experience the
changes and to enjoy the news, current
events, and gallery of pictures. Several
sections are under construction so expect to
see weekly additions and content upgrades.
The Calendar of Events section lists all
the current sanctioned events in District I as
well as any non-sanctioned events or
activities that are submitted. You will notice
that any clubs or district events that have had
advertising posters or fliers created for them
are in a PDF file next to the event listing.
These advertisements can be opened,
printed, and given out at club meetings.
I particularly enjoy the picture gallery
section with more than 1,000 pictures from
District I events I have attended or those
submitted by district members. When using
this section, click on the icon that activates
the slide-show feature.
The club section will eventually have a
user map interface for each state that will
show club location markers that you may
click on to provide club-specific information.
Plans include creating an advertising
section for District I hobby dealers to help
support the Web site costs, provide a section
for district Special Interest Groups and their
officers and activities, and establish a
“celebrities” section to honor District I
members who have been the shakers and
movers of our district’s aeromodeling
history.
All of the district officers are volunteers
and their work and efforts are much
appreciated. I want to give a special thank
you to our webmaster Paul Costa for all his
hard work.
By the time you read this column, the first
of the two AMA district-sponsored events
for 2006 will be over. If you missed the
Woodstock event, plan to attend the Annual
District I AMA Fun-Fly & Air Show
described in the advertisement. Supporting
and attending these district events will
ensure their yearly continuance. Attending
these events will also give you an
opportunity to meet and talk to the district
officers.
It’s all about friendship, fun, and flying. I
want to see you at the Salem District I
event.
