THE ACADEMY of Model Aeronautics
owes a great deal of thanks to John Brodak
for creating the most enjoyable CL meet in
the world. Competitors from all around the
world attended the meet at John’s house in
Carmichaels, Pennsylvania. At least five
circles were busy most of the time.
This year we had the pleasure of
presenting the Hall of Fame award to Windy
Urtnowski. Windy is a pillar in the control
line community and a very deserving
inductee to the Hall of Fame. His friendship
and expertise is enjoyed by modelers
throughout the world.
Associate Vice President (AVP) Leo
Rodriguez and the Mon Valley R/C Club
were congenial hosts to my wife and me at
Cedar Creek Park. Modelers from the area
met to discuss their various concerns with
AMA. Safety was the main topic. Some of
these modelers are in the following pictures.

Tom Alvord, Mon Valley president,
explains the club’s maintenance building
to Bob Brown, District III vice president.
Flying site maintenance is a necessity at all
of our flying sites. The Black Sheep
Squadron has revitalized its field with new
safety fence and yearly cleanup.

The crew includes Manny Ramos, Jerry
Manley, Bill Jones, Bill Coffay, and Al
Arnal.
George Lust provided the following
information. In cooperation with the
Community Library of Sunbury, Ohio, the
Central Ohio Radio Kontrol Society held its
annual Day at the Sticks. The entire
community was invited to experience the
excitement of RC flying.
Two flight stations were busy all day
with kids, moms, and dads. The club plans
to involve additional communities because
of the positive response.

functions.

It does fly!
