ANDY KANE from Silver Spring, Maryland,
has agreed to take over the position of contest
coordinator. Welcome aboard, Andy!
To the retiring Alice Mundy, thank you for
your many years of service as contest
coordinator for District IV. Your work is
greatly appreciated.
The Southeastern Model Show was held at
the Georgia National Fairgrounds and
Agricenter in Perry, Georgia, March 5-6,
2004. This is one of the largest—if not the
largest—model and swap shows in the
Southeast. The show was hosted by the
Georgia Aircraft Modelers Association, Inc.
Dr. Sandy Frank talking with a modeler at
the AMA booth.
More than 800 tables were available and
they were sold out well in advance. Dr. Sandy
Frank and Bliss Teague, vice presidents of
District VIII and District IV respectively,
staffed an AMA booth at the club’s request.
There was a lot of AMA talk, hangar flying,
and bargains galore. Check this out next year.

the event.
The Triad Aeromodelers Swap Meet was
held in Lexington, North Carolina, March 20,
2004. This is one of the yearly swap meets in
the area, held in the Amory off I-85 in
Lexington. The Triads had a good crowd with
plenty to sell and see.
Food was on hand, as usual, and many
door prizes were given out including AMA
license tags. There was a 50-50 raffle in which
the winner received several hundred dollars.
Next year, take this event in if you are in
the vicinity.
There was a good crowd and plenty to sell.
This is another view of the area.
The Warbirds Over Hickory airshow was
held in North Carolina, May 8-9, 2004. Fullscale
warbirds were available to see both
static and flying. Rides in some of the World
War II airplanes were offered.
Along with the event, models of World
War II aircraft were on display by the West
Hickory Aero Modelers. The AMA booth was
set up and again staffed by Bliss Teague.
Many pamphlets and brochures were handed
out and several AMA members were
recruited. Next year, there will be a flying
demonstration of model warbirds.
Viewing the AMA booth and pamphlets that
were distributed.
It was a little windy at the AMA booth.
Jerrel Bolick’s Corsair had a full-size on
ramp.
These are some of the models on display at
the show.
A full-scale Spitfire is a very rare aircraft.
This full-scale Curtiss P-40 is another rare
World War II airplane.
