DO MEMBERS of your club think that
there is frequency interference at your
field? Your club has two options. Every
associate vice president (AVP) listed
above has a frequency scanner that your
club can borrow.
Contact the AVP closest to your group
or contact the frequency coordinator (listed
above) who has frequency analyzers that
can be borrowed.
Independence, Missouri: Susan Calvin
sent in the following information about a
Wright Flyer. She built most of the
structure, but had help from Ed Wolf, Jerry
Edwards, and Harold Witte.
The model has an 80-inch wingspan
which is 1/6-scale. The wing warping was
duplicated and the covering is Sig
Koverall.
On December 17, many of the club
members gathered to see its first flight.
Four flights were made that day by Don
Stevens. The model has been retired to
static display.
This is a shot of the lower wing. Note that
each rib is built-up structure.
The Wright Flyer ready and waiting to fly.
Ed Wolf releases the Wright Flyer for the
first flight. Don Stevens is at the controls
and Susan Calvin awaits its takeoff.
Vincennes, Indiana: The Tri-County Aero
Club supplied some help to a Boy Scout
Troop at the request of Scoutmaster Daniel
Egel. The club furnished all the kits and
materials for the session.
AVP Frank Roales furnished the pictures
and information.
Club members get Troop 273 started
building.
Pat English works with one of the Scouts.
Francis Murphy is helping a Scout.
Woodstock, Illinois: Charles Kirkland, a
semiretired dentist, is returning to CL flying
after a 30-year hiatus. He says that you
never forget how to fly the airplanes.
The models survived his return. Welcome
back Chuck!
Jasper, Indiana: The Jasper R/C Flyers
club is flying from a reclaimed landfill that
the city of Jasper allows the members to use
at no cost, but since they were not allowed
to penetrate the ground, everything must
float. The shelter is built on a slab that
floats, and the fence is set in cement that sits
above ground.
