February 2006 179
IN THE DECEMBER 2005 issue of MA,
I included some information about the
Davis Acro Pro. Well, I have some more
news.
I wrote that the model was developed
by Bob Davis when in fact it was another
Bob—Bob Godfrey to be exact. Please
accept my apologies for the error.
I am also pleased that the model that I
had—notice I used the word had—is being
restored and may fly again. Longtime
friend, Fred Mazur, president of the Indian
City Radio Control Club, has it and since
he had nothing scheduled for the winter, he
decided to try to put it back in the air.
I gave it to Fred to see if he was
interested. I guess you might say that this
is one way to recycle a model. Needless to
say, he has his work cut out for him.
I consider February the halfway point to a
new flying season. The Toledo Weak
Signals Expo in April is opening day. This
year’s expo is April 7, 8, and 9, 2006. I’ll
be there as usual, and I hope to get to see
some of you there.
Often it takes time to get report
information together for a spot in this
column. If you don’t see your contribution
in the next issues, don’t fret.
By the way, hard copies of photos are
fine but we have to scan them so make
sure they are good quality. Please, don’t
write on the back of the photo! Use a Postit
note.
Russ Burkhart sent in this report about
the Cadillac Area Modelers Society
(CAMS) annual get-together held on the
Sunday of the Labor Day weekend.
Russ reported that more than 60
registered pilots from at least 10 different
clubs were present, flying everything from
40% to little electric foamies.
The club held a 50/50 raffle and the
winner donated the winnings to the
hurricane disaster fund. A total of $600
went to the American Red Cross. Nice job!

Occasionally I receive photos such as the
following that show what’s going on and I
use them as fillers.
Taken by John Lane at the BRAMS fun fly,
(L-R) are Bob Hodge, fun-fly announcer
with his Extra 300; Jim Breedlove and his
Extra 330; and CD Terry Pitts with his
Weeks Solutions.
Taylor Schultz, 14, of the Bong Eagles and
his Sparky at the 2005 Pelicans Old-Timer
contest.
Bob Black of the Bong Eagles and his
Ronele, a 1940 design by Bob Kumferman
of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, at the 2005
Pelicans Old-Timer contest.
Till the next time, fly smart, fly safely,
and get a youngster involved. You just
might like it.
