THE 12TH ANNUAL Northern California
Regional Float Fly held in Red Bluff,
California, on June 11-13 was a great
success. Eighty-six pilots from five states
attended the fly-in and everyone enjoyed the
picture-perfect weather with warm
temperatures and no wind throughout the
event.
As shown in the picture of the sunset, the
water at the Red Bluff Recreation area
provides an excellent venue for this popular
float fly.

The post-Float Fly Feast, hosted by the
Northern California Radio Control Unlimited
Flyers (NCRCUF) in Anderson, California,
has become another annual event. Two weeks
after the regional float fly, CD Michael
Brown brings the two sponsoring clubs,
NCRCUF and the Redding Area Miniature
Aircraft Club (RAMAC), together for a
potluck dinner at the local flying site.
Members of both clubs come together to
enjoy each other’s company and celebrate the
success of the event.
Dave Gregware’s uniquely painted Balsa
USA Phaeton 90 floatplane is aptly named,
Got Milk? Dave and the model fly well and
everyone enjoys Dave’s good humor.
The highlight of the Float Fly is always the
Saturday night barbecue, made possible by
the very special ladies in the kitchen. More
than 120 hungry guests were served at this
year’s banquet.
The NCRCUF of Anderson, California, and
RAMAC host the float fly. CD Mike Brown
(L) presents a check to club president Ray
Schutte for RAMAC’s share of the event
proceeds.
