Hitec Field Improvement Fund Awards In the spirit of advancing the Radio Control (RC) hobby, Hitec USA has announced the second Field Improvement Fund Awards. Ten $1,000 cash prizes will be awarded to the 10 most deserving RC clubs that apply. Any club can apply to Hitec with an entry that must include the following verifiable information: 1) Contact name, address, and telephone number 2) The same data for two members of the club's board of directors 3) The club's federal tax identification number 4) The number of dues-paying club members 5) Whether the field is club-owned or leased. If leased, how long is left in the lease? 6) Short plan of proposed improvements 7) A short, heartfelt statement of why your club should win one of the awards Entries must be postmarked before October 31, 2002. and awards will be sent by December 31, 2002. This fund was originally created in 2001 as a means for Hitec to give back to the modeling community that has been so generous to the Hitec family. MA International Model & Hobby Expo AMA members who are planning to attend the upcoming 18th annual International Model & Hobby Expo should be advised that the Radio Control Hobby Trade Association (RCHTA) and co-sponsor the Model Railroad Industry Association announce a third day designated trade-only. The largest model and hobby show in North America opens exclusively for trade guests September 5-7, 2002. The change in format is a response to retailers' need for more time to spend with the exhibitors on the floor. Also, retailers who can only attend during the weekend will have an opportunity to see exhibits without consumers present. The doors open to the public Sunday. September 8. allowing a sneak peek at many innovative products which have yet to hit the shelves. The Expo expects nearly 400 exhibitors from 38 countries stretched across more than 235,000 square feet. More than 50% of the distributors from last year's show were from outside the US—an important statement about this event's international significance. The Expo will again be held at the Donald E.
