AMA Thanks RCMA for Donation
The Academy thanks the members of
the Radio Control Manufacturer’s
Association (RCMA) for its generous
donation of $5,000 to help defray the
expenses incurred during the ongoing
Broadband over Power Lines (BPL)
activity.
Since the announcement by the FCC
last year, the Academy has been active in
attempting to assess any impact BPL
might have on our operations. This
resulted in a filing with the FCC following
the Notice of Inquiry, the Notice of
Proposed Rule Making (NPRM), and final
Reply Comments to the NPRM.
In addition, various Frequency
Committee and Frequency Advisory
Council members have attended
conferences dealing with proposed
standards relating to emissions and Part 15
of the FCC regulations.
Opportunities have arisen for the
Academy to attempt to monitor BPL
activity in areas where it is being tested.
Additional liaison activity with the ARRL
(Amateur Radio Relay League) has proven
to be valuable in helping the Academy
understand the nature of any possible
problem as it seeks to represent RC users
and the industry.
The gift from RCMA is greatly
appreciated. MA

NFFS Raises Funds for Nats
The National Free Flight Society (NFFS)
SIG has done it again! To help offset the
cost of the US Indoor Championships/AMA
FF Indoor Nats, the organization took in
donations amounting to $3,160.
As this shows, the NFFS is serious about
Indoor modeling and wants to continue to
use the East Tennessee State University
Mini-Dome at Johnson City, Tennessee, for
this contest.
A special thanks to all who donated. MA
