A BIT OF history took place at AMA
Headquarters December 1-2, 2006. For the
first time a meeting of the CIAM
(International Aeromodeling Commission)
was held in the United States. The
Commission is the FAI’s (International
Aeronautic Federation) aeromodeling arm.
Members from all over the world
attended the meeting. Additional details may
be found in this issue’s “In the Air” section.
Planning continues for the 2007 F3D Pylon
Racing World Championships, which will
be held at AMA’s International
Aeromodeling Center June 25-28, 2007.
Competitors from approximately 16
countries are expected to attend. If you have
never experienced this type of racing, make
plans to be here.
The new rules-change cycle began January
1, 2007. Rules-change proposals are now
being accepted. Proposals will continue to
be accepted until a postmark date of
September 30, 2007.
If you think a rule in an event that you
fly needs some refinement, now is the time
to accomplish this task. You can download
the appropriate form from the AMA Web
site at www.modelaircraft.org/PDFfiles/
Rules%20Change%20Form.pdf.
We’ve settled into the winter months
around AMA Headquarters. This time of
year is never much fun.
However, it does allow us to catch up on
some paperwork and work on a few longterm
projects. Indoor events tend to keep me
going and the fingers seminimble (or at least
as nimble as my fingers get).
Til next time … MA
