Yak-55SP unlimited IMAC contest
airplane from Composite-ARF, 305
Natick Ct., Silver Spring MD 20905;
Tel.: (301) 785-3022; E-mail: akane@
composite-arf.com; Web site:
www.composite-arf.com.
Composite-ARF is a company that
exclusively produces all-composite
airframes. Fifteen years of composite
experience allows the firm to design and
produce model airplanes in high-tech
composites that are lightweight and
strong.
Composite-ARF sells direct to
customers around the world, without
distributor and dealer margins. The five
US sales representatives support order
procedure and provide after-sales service.
Experienced contest pilots are
involved in the design and improvement
of all products. Typical Composite-ARF
kits consist of vacuum-bagged fiberglass
sandwich parts with Kevlar and carbon
reinforcements where they belong, and
they are painted in various color schemes
in the molds. All aerodynamic design is
well proven in various contest activities.
The prefabrication of kits is carried out
to the point where the customer only
needs to install engine and radio
components.
The newest addition is a Yak-55SP
with a 2.6-meter wingspan. Its ready-to-fly
weight is less than 26 pounds. Its bigger
brother, which has a 3.3-meter span (150-
200cc), has been marketed for a year.
The Yak-55SP is a long tail arm
midwing design with neutral aerobatic
characteristics; no knife-edge mixing is
required. A 100cc engine will power the
airplane through all current IMAC
maneuvers. Extremely large control
surfaces and a low wing loading allow all
imaginable 3-D maneuvers.
The Composite-ARF Yak-55SP 2.6m
is available in three color schemes. The
3.3m version is available in six color
schemes.
