Westchester Radio AeroModelers (WRAM) Show
It seems that all of the trade shows were down in vendor participation, and the 2009 Westchester Radio AeroModelers (WRAM) Show followed this pattern. The vendors I spoke with, though, were quite happy with the show attendance, and this is encouraging.
WRAM show organizer Lou Scarlino and Daryl Hunt, club president, had this 41st annual event well organized and running smoothly. WRAM members were helpful and friendly. I want to say thank you to Lou for his flexibility and assistance when we needed it.
This is the only trade show in District II, and if more modelers attend and spend, more vendors will want to be there—benefiting everyone. Think about it.

Roxbury Area Model Airplane Club (RAMAC) Mall Show
Marguerite Gargiulo of the Roxbury Area Model Airplane Club (RAMAC) sent this information. RAMAC sponsors a mall show with a difference. As with most events, many of the members' best aircraft are there.
AMA provides informational literature and club members work hard to inform and motivate the public about model aviation. A flight simulator is set up so that all visitors can try flying a trainer RC airplane.
Nassau Flyers Club — 25th Annual Swap Meet
Ray Juschkus, Associate Vice President, sent this report of the 25th annual swap meet presented by the Nassau Flyers Club.
Ray attended every one of them and always looks forward to having a great time with old friends. Archie Defendini has always done a fantastic job at the helm of this dedicated group of fliers.
It was very cold but clear on this late January day, and the crowd could not wait to enter. Once inside, the modelers could find tables covered with all sorts of items. There were two hardware vendors that had people standing five deep to get to the gadgets and tools they had to offer.
On the stage were at least 50 finished models for sale, and deals were swift. There were over 1,000 attendees with more than 38 tables to peruse. The doors opened at 9 a.m., and the crowd did not leave until well past noon.
Items available included:
- kits
- motors and engines
- batteries
- servos
- assorted tools and accessories
