Keystone Indoor Electric Fun-Fly
The Keystone Indoor Electric Fun-Fly will be the event to attend March 2–3 in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Mark Vukmanovich provided an update on the event's activities.
Dan Landis, an accomplished F3A pilot, will perform a demonstration flight on Saturday. He has competed in several Nationals as well as the ETOC and XFC.
Dean Pappas will share his 43 years of modeling experience in one of the seminars. Dean's hobby career has spanned more than four decades across all three disciplines of aeromodeling. His accomplishments include Pattern performances that kept him in the top 10 fliers in the country for much of the 1980s and designing his own series of Pattern aircraft. Dean helped invent the widely used CL Stunt tuned-pipe system and authored hundreds of articles in various hobby magazines. He will present a high-performance electric seminar focusing on motor speed controllers and battery setups, and a seminar on the new revolution of electric-powered CL Stunt aircraft.
Joe Malinchak will showcase his micro RC skills in a "How to get started in micro RC" presentation — a must-attend seminar for anyone interested in this facet of the hobby.

Jackson County Aeromodelers
It has been a great year for the Jackson County Aeromodelers of West Virginia. The awards Christmas dinner was held at Cedar Lake Conference Center.
Guest speaker Major Kenny Hale from the Air National Guard 130th AW spoke of his father's role among the Tuskegee Airmen with the Army Air Corps in the 1940s and described the hardships the black soldiers endured while serving their country. Jackson County president Chuck Westfall presented a plaque to Major Hale, making him an honorary club member.
Springfield Model Airplane Club (Springfield, Ohio)
Jim Martin, District III associate vice president, reported that the Springfield Model Airplane Club held its eighth annual swap meet on November 24, 2006, at the VFW Post 1031 Meeting Hall. Mike Harter and David Snyder organized the event, with help from many club members.
The weather was picture-perfect, and members and visitors enthusiastically hunted bargains and socialized throughout the day.
Columbus Aero RC Club
The Columbus Aero RC Club held its annual swap meet and static display at the Grove City Church of the Nazarene. Pastor Don Bowman helped secure the church's multipurpose room for the event. Earl Davis, club CD and president, organized the swap meet.
Although the club worried that holding the swap meet the same day as the JR Electric Festival might hurt attendance, many people stopped by the swap meet on their way to the Electric Fest. The swap shop tables were busy all morning.
The club awards trophies in several static-display classes, open to everyone. This year's classes were:
- Less-than-.90 sport model
- .90-and-larger sport model
- Stand-off scale
- Helicopter
- Glider
- Electric
- Best of show
- Best club participation
Static displays were on the thin side this year, so consider bringing an entry next year. The club also raffled a Sony portable DVD player; 50/50 raffles and door prizes kept the crowd engaged throughout the morning.
Come and join the fun next year!
