FAC Non-Nats — Geneseo, New York

The full-scale airport used by the Historical Aircraft Group at Geneseo, New York, was this year's site of the FAC Non-Nats. A large number of competitors from numerous states gathered to enjoy flying their beautiful, unique scale models. The following pictures illustrate some of the excitement.

Take Off and Grow — HAWKS of Hamilton, Ohio

A Take Off and Grow activity by the HAWKS of Hamilton, Ohio, was held in July. Club president Greg Girard provided the following information:

"The weather was perfect: bright sunshine and relatively cool temperatures, topping out at 84°F with a 10–12 mph wind. Information about our event had been placed with various media outlets as well as Boy Scouts, Big Brother/Big Sisters, and, in conjunction with the Rotary Club of West Chester/Liberty, a local children's shelter. A television station and one newspaper covered the event.

"Our one-day event registered and flew 95 individuals and by all accounts was a huge success. An estimate of the number of spectators would be 75–100. We had five pilot stations that were kept very busy for most of the day. At times we had six airplanes in the air. There was great support from HAWKS club members who volunteered.

"Our noontime break included a turbine jet demonstration, an IMAC (International Miniature Aerobatic Club) 3-D demonstration, a spectacular 3-D electric demo, and an electric helicopter. We distributed literature and applications for the AMA and the HAWKS."
