THE ELECTION for District III is over.
Thank you for your support and your vote of
confidence in my reelection. I thank all
those involved for their positive
campaigning. My years of experience create
a very positive relationship with most
members in the Academy.
A special thank-you is in order for Ken
Karpinski, our southeast Pennsylvania
associate vice president. Unfortunately, Ken
is moving out of the district to Virginia. His
efforts will not be forgotten. If you are
interested in becoming Ken’s replacement,
please contact me at the published address.
Kevin Sheen, our webmaster, would also
appreciate a replacement. If you have the
expertise and credentials, please make
yourself known.
An apology is in order to Bob Aberle. Last
month I neglected to mention his fine
effort in RC Micro World pertaining to the
Keystone Indoor Electric Fly. Why not

Bill Mohrbacher provided the following
information pertaining to the Beaver
County Model Airplane Club, Inc. The
club was originally formed by the
Highland Optimists in 1964. In 1965 it
moved out to Zima Field on Route 168,
just west of New Galilee, Pennsylvania.
The field is named in honor of Bill
Zima, the now-deceased owner. Bill loved
our hobby and his family has hosted our
club all these years. Their support is
greatly appreciated.
The Beaver County club is AMA
Charter #571 and was incorporated in
1969. The club’s membership of roughly
60 members enjoys RC, sport models,
gliders, and some Scale, both glow and
electric. Bill provided the following
pictures to illustrate the club’s activities.
Beaver Club president Gary Hilton and his
Cub.
Frank Verdecci, the club’s vice president,
and his Rare Bear.
Josh Feree with his Extra.
Bill Mohrbacher provided the pictures.
The Black Sheep Squadron of northeast
Pennsylvania, and an AMA Gold Leader
Club, has found it worthwhile to provide
encouragement to its members when the
occasional crash comes. Further information
can be viewed at the club’s Web site:
