In memoriam: Lee L. Eisele

On September 20, 2011, we lost our friend Lee L. Eisele.

Lee, 76, was a lifelong farmer and avid modeler. He built and maintained one of the most scenic RC fields in northeast Pennsylvania. The ground was prime farmland and could have been used for many things, but Lee kept it for the Sky High Flyers and the Muncy Indoor Flyers.

Lee and his wife, Kitty, hosted many fun-fly events at the field, and many hours were spent sitting and chatting. They enjoyed visits from District III Vice President Bob Brown and his wife, JoAnne. Kitty and JoAnne both lived in Bucks County and became good friends, which made Lee happy.

Lee lived and farmed for many years in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, before moving to Muncy, Pennsylvania.

Thank you, Lee, from all of your modeling friends.

St. Clairsville Junior Aviator Day — August 14, 2011

On August 14, 2011, the St. Clairsville Radio Control Flyers held their second annual Junior Aviator Day for area youth. Although the weather called for rain showers, the event went off without a hitch.

  • Club members flew many demonstration flights.
  • The club displayed a variety of planes, from trainers to Giant Scale to 3-D models.
  • Bill Kutchell gave a pattern demonstration that entertained the crowd.
  • The flying lawn mower was a big hit.

The young aviators:

  • Learned how airplanes fly.
  • Were given balsa gliders.
  • Tried a flight simulator.
  • Made and launched pop-bottle rockets.
  • Many experienced their first flights with instructor Chuck Guthoerl.

The club thanks Capstone Holdings for the use of the field.
