District V-Sponsored Event (Statesboro, GA)

Hello District V! We are hosting a District V-sponsored, three-day event at Prosser Field in Statesboro, Georgia, presented by the Ogeechee Aeromasters. This event is open to all AMA members and their families. No landing fee.

Camping and reservations:

  • Twelve 30-amp camper hookups available with power and water.
  • Camp sites: $20 per night.
  • Primitive camping: $5 per night.
  • To make reservations call B.L. Prosser at (912) 682-1891.

Facilities and services:

  • Shower house and porta-potty access.
  • Generators are welcome; please use common courtesy regarding your neighbor.
  • Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be available for purchase at the field.
  • Registered pilots will be provided with a free lunch by AMA.
  • Concessions available.

Nearby conveniences:

  • Two convenience stores less than a mile away for fuel, ice, or small necessities.
  • Walmart and Dollar General are located about seven miles away.
  • Several major-chain restaurants are seven to eight miles from the field.

Sarasota RC Squadron Visit

I recently visited the Sarasota RC Squadron in south Florida. The site sits on a closed landfill and is an excellent facility: a paved 500-foot runway, a shaded pavilion, and a great view from the top of the hill.

I had the good fortune to meet two great modelers, Alden Fonseca and David Speed. We discussed the direction of modeling, their club, the AMA, and shared many stories. It was a great time.
