SAINT LOUIS, MISSOURI: The Greater
Saint Louis Modeling Association
(GSLMA) hosted a public learn-to-fly
session at Buder Park, a Saint Louis
County Park flying site that is open to all
AMA members.
The event was organized by Steve
Mizerany with assistance from
approximately a dozen AMA members and
their RC trainers. More than 40 new fliers
were introduced to the joy of RC flying
using buddy boxes.
The event targeted children, but ended
up including children of all ages—3 to
53—and roughly an equal number of
females and males.
At one time there were as many as five
airplanes in the air. GSLMA members
provided on-site computers running flight
simulator software as a warm-up to actual
buddy-box flying.
CL flying was offered at the nearby CL
circles.
Information and pictures were submitted
by David McQuinn.
Wright City, Missouri: Club 3555, the
Wright Flyers Model Airplane Club, had a
perfect day for its float fly. The event was
held at Innsbrook Lake which is near
Wright City, Missouri.
Jim Lazendorf and his big Cub put on a great
show. The Cub is a beautiful model and he is
a talented flier.
Jim Greenwood’s Dualist had some engine
problems. Two flight attempts both ended
with an engine dying. Jim’s expertise at flying
landed the airplane with no damage.
There were many spectators. The club is to
be congratulated for this fine event.

The rescue boat operator did a great job balancing the aircraft while rowing back to shore.
