AMA News — District VII (2009/01)

District VII

If you were starting a retail business, one of the primary things to look for is location, location, location. The AMA has a similar situation except for a word change.

In order to expand the membership we look at promotion, promotion, promotion. This is where the membership comes into play, along with the AMA promotional material sent out.

This column is an expansion of my November 2008 article. How can a club get involved in promoting our hobby/sport? First it takes a willingness to become involved. Then it takes dedication to carry out the program. And then it takes the club membership to get behind the program and make it work.

  1. Willingness to become involved.
  2. Dedication to carry out the program.
  3. Club membership support to make it work.

Involvement in the community is one place to start. The following is, as I mentioned, an addition to my November column, which was shortened because space was limited.

This is a pictorial review of what the Northern Aces demonstration team did at the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) air show in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. It's evident that dedication to getting the aeromodeling theme promoted was shown in the following photos.

Bill Lund of the Northern Aces supplied the photos and the captions.

Well done, Northern Aces.

Till next time, fly safely, have fun, and introduce a youngster to our hobby/sport.
