FEBRUARY ALREADY … where did the
time go? It seems like only last week I wrote
my December column.
Hopefully you all have your winter
projects nearly finished, and all the batteries
are being monitored for spring.
Just around the corner is the 2010 Toledo
Expo. For me that means flying season, like
opening day of a new baseball season.
It is also a time for District VII clubs to
start thinking about how the flying site has
survived the winter.
Norm Eifer, secretary/treasurer of the Mt.
Pleasant Model Aircraft Club in Mt.
Pleasant, Michigan, sent in these photos of
what went on last year.
This club must have a great public
relations person because the membership
received donations from local businesses to
help get the field in shape. A local trucking
company supplied dirt, three lumber
companies supplied building materials, and
a towing company supplied a front end
loader.
Wow! I would say they have it together.
Great job.
President George Jenning sowing wild oats
(grass seed).
Work was made easier with the front end
loader.
Club members work on the new shelter.
The results: a fun-fly with free hot dogs and
sodas!
Mark Robotti, longtime District VII
associate vice president, sent in this next
report from the St. Croix Valley Radio
Control Club that put on a Delta Dart
program at the Osceola, Wisconsin, middle
school.
Twenty-five youngsters and two teachers
attended the class, which took roughly two
hours. Mark states that this is the second
time the club has held one of these events
with great results.
Each student received a Delta Dart to
build and a new kit to take home. There
were also some RC planes on display for the
students to check out.
Ted Gonyeau (back to the camera) with the
students.
Bob Lundquist (far right) is showing his
aircraft.
Ted Gonyeau (L) and Gloria Robotti assisting
the students.
Club vice president, Bob Lundquist (L) and
Rob Rank, club president in the center.
(L-R) Bob Lundquist, Carl Rasmussen, and
Pete Schroeder assist the students.
Till next time, get out and promote our
hobby/sport. Get involved, have fun, and fly
safely. C.A.V U.
