Vicki has been my “right arm” in
providing information regarding the
financials. She is hard working and will be
sorely missed.
She is leaving to assume responsibility
for her brothers’ businesses which should
prove challenging and hopefully
rewarding.
Many people give. money to AMA for
museum activities. These contributions are
greatly appreciated and Michael Smith,
museum director, gets more from a dollar
than anyone.
As l have encouraged you in the past,
please make the trip to Muncie to visit the
museum and when you come, bring an
airplane because there is plenty of room
for flying. We will be happy to show you
where to fly on your field.
Association membership is difficult to
maintain because of fluctuations. In recent
years, park flyers have become a
prominent element in model aviation. For
numerous reasons, these pilots are not
joining AMA or local clubs.
One reason is their lack of knowledge
of their existence. They fly in backyards or
school yards and do not associate with
other modelers in the area.
We as modelers are missing out on the
relationship with new model builders and
the park flyers are missing out on the fun
and enjoyment of seeing other elements of
this hobby. I encourage each of you to
make an effort to meet and inform park
flyers about AMA and local flying
opportunities.
Most park flyers are not extremely fast
or heavy; however, they could cause
damage under the right circumstances, i.e.
flying into someone’s house or hitting a
person.
Their need is to know about AMA’s
insurance coverage, the magazine, and
other resources available to them and to
increase their knowledge of model aviation
nationally and internationally.
To think about ...
From Charlie Connerly, pro football
player: “When you win, you are an old
pro; when you lose, you are an old man.”
From Sam Walton: “High expectations
are the key to everything.”
A-B-C: Always Be Courteous.
Until later...
