JESSE ANGLIN created the full-scale,
home-built Spacewalker in the early
1980s. His goal was to capture the essence
of 1930s sport airplanes. The single-seat,
low-wing monoplane was destined to
become a classic and has been the subject
of both ARF and kit models.
In the mid-1990s, Laddie Mikulasko
designed his Spacewalker model to have
electric power. However, Ni-Cd batteries
and a geared AstroFlight 15 motor were
the best of what was available at the time.
Today’s brushless motors and Li-Poly
batteries could easily shave a bit off of the
model’s reported 64-ounce flying weight.
According to Laddie, this four-channel
aircraft flies well; it is stable in the air and
has good aerobatic capabilities. Its 54.5-
inch wingspan makes it easy to see,
especially if you finish it in the classic
yellow-and-red scheme.
Laddie’s Spacewalker was featured in a
construction article in the July 1994 MA,
