Stroker

A practical, easy-to-build, great-flying model for four-stroke .40s

IN 1985 SEVERAL new four-stroke .40- to .45-size engines were available. Randy Randolph reasoned that a purpose-designed RC sport model with a shoulder-wing placement would be just the thing for builders who wanted to make use of those power plants. That year Randy crafted the Stroker, which could be assembled in a few evenings from sheet and strip balsa stock. It uses a constant-chord, built-up, 50.5-inch-span wing and features a fairly long tail-moment arm to allow proper balance with the slightly heavier four-stroke engines.

This model can also be powered by a glow engine or modified to accept electric power with the battery placed near the front of the fuselage to achieve the proper balance point.

Stroker plans, which are set 470, are available through the AMA Plans Service. MA
