PROMOTING THE HOBBY
Flying Site Help: a comprehensive package of support materials available to chapters and clubs; includes a site evaluation and may be borrowed by chartered clubs. In addition qualified AMA chartered clubs and government agencies for managing and planning site acquisition. Write to the Marketing Department, AMA Headquarters.
Intro-Pilot Program: an introductory program available to chartered clubs. Qualified pilot-charm chartered clubs; limited to three per club may participate. Introductory lessons are given to the general public during a time period of documented interest and students are covered by the AMA flying operation and insurance policy. Adopt-a-School: the Academy sponsors an adopt-a-school program across the nation aimed at providing classroom and club materials. Many supplies are also provided at a discounted price. Communities and parents are encouraged to support local model clubs and members who participate in the program. For further information contact the Marketing Department.
Mail Shows: the AMA Headquarters will ship show materials to chartered clubs and award a commemorative pin to participants. Clubs need to notify AMA Headquarters at least 30 days prior to their planned show so AMA can arrange shipping. For more information contact the Marketing Department.
Airshow Team (AEST) Program: AMA encourages highly skilled fliers who enjoy performing before audiences to inquire about the AEST program. The Academy assists clubs with support and liaison for insurance requirements and other support. For more information contact the Marketing Department.
SUPPORTING EDUCATION
Scholarships: Several scholarships are awarded annually to young AMA members entering colleges or universities. Annual awards vary; applications and additional information may be obtained by writing to AMA Headquarters.
Educator Support: a classroom package available to educators who request it. Headquarters can choose classroom kits. Package content suggestions for classroom materials include: source of materials and identification of components and accessories which provide documentation and guidance. Includes model aviation technique teachers can enhance learning opportunities for students in mathematics and science.
Frank M. Enfling National Model Aviation Museum and Research Resource Library: associated with Academy, the museum and library promote aviation science and understanding in model aviation through the improved use of the museum and library exhibits; extensive library and expanding collection include resource materials for all ages and provide home coursework and class room information to schools and educators. RECOGNIZING INDIVIDUALS
Leader Members: a program designed to recognize leaders in the modeling community. Those in administrative, public and service positions are considered in judging to recognize leader volunteer action. Awards and recognition are based on nomination and application and are judged by the membership. For more information contact AMA Headquarters.
Leader Club Program: an award program to recognize the leadership of the industry, and more dedicated chartered clubs. The program offers the Leader Club award to those clubs and individuals who demonstrate the highest standards of community service, involvement and modeling activity. Contest Director: Contest Directors are responsible for organizing and running flying contests throughout the year. A sanctioning program and information and application are available from the Marketing Department, AMA Headquarters.
Appreciation Awards: AMA offers personal appreciation awards to deserving individuals and other volunteers who assist clubs in their endeavors. The Awards are presented through the local club or AMA Headquarters upon application. For more information contact the Marketing Department.
PARTICIPATING IN WORLD-CLASS AEROMODELING COMPETITION
World Championships: any AMA member has the opportunity to represent the USA and enter an international aeromodeling competition event. It is the goal of the Academy to select champions from around the country to represent the nation in World Championships. They are also selected through the Competitive Technical Department. ADDITIONAL BENEFIT PLANS FOR MEMBERS
Overview: The Academy of Model Aeronautics has entered into working arrangements with private companies that have agreed to provide various types of insurance plans to AMA members. These plans are based on the ability to offer advantageous pricing schedules and the large pool of membership contacts.
AVAILABLE BENEFITS
Vision Care Plan: AMA is pleased to announce a new vision care benefit program through OUTLOOK Vision Service, a nationwide network of eye care professionals contracted to provide you and your family hundreds of discounts on their services. OUTLOOK Vision Service includes vision care plans on a family basis; members who join can choose a plan and receive services when their membership purchases the OUTLOOK program for each family member.
