Audit

The auditors have completed the audit of AMA for the year ended December 31, 2009. A copy is available on the AMA website. If you prefer, AMA can send a hard copy for a minimal charge.

Membership

AMA is a nonprofit organization and its primary source of income is dues. The expenditure of those dues is for the benefit of the membership. When membership declines, we must be careful with income and avoid overspending. We need everyone to work together to bring in new members; this could reduce or completely eliminate our present decline in membership.

Think about how you became interested in model airplanes — it can often be best summarized as "share it with a kid." One-on-one contact is the most effective way to increase membership.

Ways to increase membership

  • Make personal, one-on-one contacts and share the hobby with young people.
  • Encourage club members to recruit friends and neighbors.
  • Organize group visits to hobby shops to promote fellowship and visibility.

Visit hobby shops

One fun way to get the most out of the fellowship of this hobby/sport is to visit hobby shops. Suggestions:

  • Get three or four club members or friends together.
  • Visit several hobby shops in your state, preferably on a Saturday.
  • Include shops away from your hometown — they often carry different items and display them differently, so you may see things you missed at your neighborhood shop.
  • Talk airplanes, enjoy the time together, and have fun.

Closing

If you can't be clever, associate with someone who is.
