THE AUDITORS have completed the
audit of AMA for the year ended December
31, 2009. You will find a copy of it on the
AMA Web site. Should you prefer, AMA
can send you a hard copy for a minimal
charge.
AMA needs to increase the
membership. This can best be done with
one-on-one contact. Think about how you
became interested in model airplanes. It
can probably be best summarized by “share
it with a kid.”
AMA is a nonprofit organization and its
primary source of income is dues; the
expenditure of those dues is basically for
the benefit of the membership. When you
have a loss of membership, you naturally
have to be careful with your income and
not overspend. We need everyone to work
together to bring in new members. That
could reduce or completely eliminate our
present decline in membership.
I’m sure everyone has done this at one
time or another, but one fun way to get the
most out of the fellowship of this hobby/
sport that we share is to visit hobby shops.
One easy way to do this is to get three or
four of your club members or friends
together and go to several of the hobby
shops in your state.
It is nice to visit the hobby shops that
are away from your hometown because
they do carry different things and they
display them differently. You may see
something you might have overlooked in
your neighborhood shop.
The thing is that everybody gets
together and talks airplanes, and everyone
has a good time. That is what it’s all about.
I highly recommend that you try this on a
Saturday and visit three or four shops.
If you can’t be clever, associate with
someone who is.
