Dennis K. Bailey
Pete Southwell provided the following information regarding the passing of his friend and fellow club member.
On March 26, 2004, Dennis K. Bailey, the president of the Brattleboro Area Flyers RC Club in Brattleboro, Vermont, passed away after a long battle with cancer. Dennis was not only the president of the club but also a great friend, instructor, and someone who was always there to help anyone interested in the sport of RC flying.
On June 26, a ceremony was held at the club's flying field to celebrate the life of Dennis Bailey and the contributions he made to the club. The field is located on a former landfill that is operated by the Windham County Solid Waste Management District (WCSWMD).
The ceremony coincided with the WCSWMD's 10th anniversary celebration. The executive director, Don Murray, attended and praised the club for its reuse of a landfill site.
William Flood, the club's vice president, gave a heartfelt speech on behalf of the club and its members. Dennis's wife Cathy, family members, friends, and many club members attended the celebration. Cathy unveiled a new sign that reads "Dennis K. Bailey Memorial Flying Field." Even though Dennis is no longer with us, he will always be in our memory.
