DISTRICT II
has a new
webmaster, Ray
Kappes of
Clifton Park,
New York, a
suburb of
Albany. He has
been in our
hobby since
1969 and loves
it. Ray also
enjoys working
on Web sites
and he writes,
“Please feel
free to E-mail
me about what you would like to see on the
site, because without your input, this is not a
site.”
Ray offers this: “For those clubs that have
their own domain name or are planning on
doing that, the District II Web site can now
host your club using your club domain name
as the URL. That would be the same as if you
were paying to be hosted on a server. You get
a login, and you create and maintain the site
yourself.
“If the club has the name ‘FlyersofFun’
and the domain name flyersoffun.org is
available, we can host your site and people
will type in flyersoffun.org and that will get
them to your site.”
Welcome aboard the District II team,
Ray! You have already had a great impact on
our Web site!
District II is honored with the induction of
two modelers into the Model Aviation Hall of
Fame. The late Jerry Stoloff of the Brooklyn
Skyscrapers is one recipient of the award. He
designed models and had them kitted by
companies such as Continental Model,
Consolidated Model Airplane, and Eagle
Model Airplane.
Bob Noll is from Vestal, New York, and a
very familiar face in the district. Bob became
a CD in 1960 and has directed 50 events for
the Aeroguidance Society and the Vintage
R/C Society. Bob is an accomplished writer
and has been published in MA, Model
Airplane News and Flying Models
magazines, and he continues to write for MA
and Flying Models.

awards.
Ernie Nikodem is one of our most active
associate vice presidents (AVPs). He attends
many events each year in his region and
forwarded several photos from the Flying
Aces Club Free Flight event held in Geneseo,
New York, last summer.

Ernie also sent a photo from the RCCR
event in Brockport, New York, last June. The
Rochester area is a hotbed in the
development of youngsters into world-class
competition pilots. The names of Devin
McGrath, Kyle Stacy, and the up-and-coming
Clay Wheaton are three of the most
prominent.
Clay showed his stuff at this fun-fly and is
becoming a polished aerobatic and 3-D pilot.
These young men aren’t just great pilots, they
are terrific people, too.
