The Johnstown RC Club
The Johnstown RC Club, founded in 1962, held its annual mall show at the Johnstown Galleria Mall on April 30 and May 1–2. More than 55 airplanes and helicopters were displayed during the long weekend, with demonstrations of small helicopters and gliders taking place throughout the show.
The club gave away helium-filled balloons to youngsters and had several flight simulators running on laptops. Of the club's 49 members, 28 participated by showing their airplanes and/or staffing the display during the weekend.
The club has been doing a mall show for at least 20 years and has earned an AMA Leader Club award for 15 consecutive years. The club maintains an active website with hundreds of pictures from past activities and from this year's mall show.

Air Masters RC Club
On Saturday, May 15, 2010, the Air Masters RC Club held a picnic and the grand opening of its new field in North Bend, Ohio, west of Cincinnati on the Ohio River. The sky was cloudless and deep blue with light, variable winds.
In conjunction with its field relocation, the Air Masters became an AMA-sanctioned club in 2010. The new field is located on property owned by Duke Energy, which sponsors two model aviation flying sites in the Cincinnati area.
The Air Masters has roughly 65 members and has been a club since 1994. In the early years the members experienced the same pitfalls as many RC clubs—field location issues and neighbor concerns. In 1997 the club arranged to locate its site on Duke Energy property, where it remained until Duke needed to move them because of expansion. Duke provided a new site with ample space for the club's needs.
Field features include:
- 1,000 × 100-foot grass runway
- Ample overfly area
- Parking
- Control-line circle
- Clubhouse
- Spectator area
Saturday's events included an opening ceremony led by club president Paul Wiley, who offered a prayer and recognition to those who made the move possible. The first flight was performed by club member Tony Michel.
The Air Masters offers a broad range of activities, including flight training.
