DOWAYNE GOULD provided the
following report on The Ohio Radio Kontrol
Society’s (TORKS) Heart of Ohio Pattern
Classic.
“On June 12 and 13, the TORKS club
hosted the Heart of Ohio Pattern Classic.
Eighteen pilots showed up despite the 80%
chance of showers on Saturday. Teodorico
Terry and Bill Kutchell, two sportsman
pilots competing in their first contest, had a
good taste of contest weather.
“With the cloud cover blocking the sun
we had a very short pilots’ meeting and got
round one started early. After a couple
flights the showers came. The pilots and
judges battled through the showers and low
ceilings.
“A few flights disappeared into the
ceiling for a few tense seconds. We let the
pilots land so the clouds could roll on by
before they completed their flights. This
continued on and off till 2 p.m. when the sun
broke through and brought the humidity on.

“Anthony Abdullah had to withdraw
with motor troubles and Bob Condra had to
withdraw with radio issues. We finished all
four rounds by 5:30 p.m. and headed to the
Olive Garden for some hangar talk.
“Sunday morning, the weather forecast
was slightly better at 50% chance of
showers. With the clouds still covering the
sun we started round 5 early. The final 2
rounds were in the books by 1 p.m.
“I would like to thank the pilots for
showing up because without you these
contests don’t happen. And thanks to the
TORKS club members who helped with the
food and other contest chores. Also, I would
like to thank Ray Morton and my son Josh
for tackling the scoring duties.”

Tony Minnella, president of the Muncy
Indoor Flyers in Pennsylvania, has provided
some insight into this year’s Keystone
Indoor Electric Fly (KIEF).
Mark October 15-17, 2010, on your
calendar for the biggest indoor electric meet
on the east coast. The site is the GSC Sports
Complex Dome in Muncy, Pennsylvania.
Visit the club’s Web site at www.pafun
fly.com for additional information.
Rumor has it that Nick Maxwell, a demo
pilot for Curtis Youngblood Enterprises,
will be in attendance to help all with their
helicopter problems. If you have never seen
Nick fly, KIEF may be your chance.
