Holiday Electric Fly (HEF)
Last year the first annual Holiday Electric Fly (HEF) was held at the GaREAT Center in Geneva, Ohio. There were 107 registered pilots and more than 400 airplanes and helicopters, making for a very successful event.
The GaREAT Center complex is 600 x 300 feet, which allowed four flightlines to be active at one time. Combat, pylon racing, carrier landing, and 3-D events enhanced the three days of fun. Santa also made a special visit.
The building houses a full-size football field with an Olympic-size track around the perimeter and several other track-and-field event areas. It also has grandstand-style seating for as many as 4,000 spectators, two snack bars, and a sit-down restaurant. The facility is climate controlled.
This year's event will be December 2–4, 2011. Make your plans!
