THE BLACK SHEEP Squadron of
northeastern Pennsylvania recently
contributed a check in the amount of
$501.25 to support the Valley Santa
Charity of Wyoming Valley. This charity
focuses on providing gifts for needy
children at Christmas. The club realized
notoriety in the local newspaper for this
positive activity.
Bill Jones, Keith Hazleton, Walt Ciolek,
and Al Arnal present their check.
For nearly half a century, the Toledo
Weak Signals have been one of the premier
clubs within the Academy of Model
Aeronautics. The Toledo Show is
undoubtedly the largest Radio Control (RC)
show in North America. However, many do
not realize the additional activities the club
produces. Special thanks are offered for the
club’s continued support and contribution
to the AMA Scholarship program.
Flying models that are replicas of
modeling from our past is a very enjoyable
facet of our hobby. The Toledo Weak
Signals host a yearly contest which allows
the Old-Timers to compete. Check these
pictures of some of the models being
flown.

Chuck Schooley is his timer.
Bud Tanner checks his model.
Bob Knisely with his Corda Diamond.
Additional contests conducted by the
Weak Signals involve various Fédération
Aéronautique Internationale (FAI) Team
Selection Programs for Sailplanes, Electric
models, and Pylon.
If you have ever attended a Weak Signal
event, you will have to agree that it was
first class. To say that they involve the
majority of our hobby would not be an
understatement.
The following pictures exemplify the
efforts of various club members.
Incidentally, our Associate Vice President
Joe Vislay is a past president of the Weak
Signals and has provided very positive
service for all the clubs in northwestern
Ohio.
Paul Schmidt, Weak Signals’ contest
director.
Many of the club members have been
Pylon judges.
These gentlemen don’t mind work!
These gentlemen know their events.
The modelers of District III offer a
special thank you for the efforts of the
Toledo Weak Signals!
Plan now to attend the AMA Homecoming.
The weekend of June 7, 2003 should be
enjoyable for all. See you there!
