THE NINTH annual East Coast Hobby
Show held in Fort Washington,
Pennsylvania, was another success for AMA
and the clubs that participated in the event.
Thirty-six tables full of models were
displayed.
Winners of their respective classes were:
Indoor flight, Hugh Harber; Free Flight, Joe
Koller; Control Line, Jim Van Sant; Radio
Control, Ron Moore; and Best of Show, Bill
Granieri.
Bill Granieri won Best of Show.
Joe Koller won Best Free Flight.
John Kukon demonstrated building riseoff-
ground (ROG) models.
Ron Moore produced this beautiful award
winner.
Participating in the huge event were
these AMA clubs: Bucks Country RC,
Delaware Valley RC, Flying Tigers RC,
Philly Flyers, Flying Bucks, Washington's
Crossing Flyers Association, and the Scale
Old Timers Society.
Thanks to Tom Haake for his efforts as
president of the federation.
The American Airlines Gas Model Club
(AAGMC) has been in existence for 65
years. Although this longevity can be
attributed to many club members, one
member has certainly been a catalyst.
Larry McFarland recently retired as the
newsletter editor. Through the years, Larry
read thousands of Radio Control (RC)
articles and shared portions of all the
information through his informative
newsletters.
The club members want to pass along
their heartfelt thanks to Larry for sharing his
gift with them for many years.
Henry Horn and Mr. and Mrs. Larry
McFarland enjoy the AAGMC pig roast.
The Black Sheep Squadron of Northeastern
Pennsylvania feels it is important to
recognize accomplishment in its members,
especially youth. As part of their WINGS
program of flight instruction, members have
their pictures taken for Model Aviation. It is
one way to recognize the efforts needed to
become proficient fliers.
Marc Fowler receives his solo wings and
certification from club vice president Bill
Jones and safety officer Keith Hazleton.
Banks Reis receives his solo wings and
certification.
Frank Noll is at it again with the
International Extreme Flight
Championships. This is the Superbowl of
freestyle aerobatics for airplane and
helicopter pilots.
See the extreme!
Plan to attend this event at WACO
Airfield in Troy, Ohio, during the weekend
of June 20-22. For additional information
