SEVERAL TIMES in the past year, I have
discussed various flying site problems with
clubs throughout District III. Often the need
for community support becomes apparent.
As we begin to develop a plan of action to
obtain or maintain a flying site, if public
support is lacking, the effort becomes very
painful.
For the past several years, I have
suggested that each club participate in the
Leader Club Program within AMA. Why?
Simply because the program becomes a plan
for the club to develop a positive means of
public support. It also creates positive club
activities.
Already this year, the following clubs
have renewed or obtained Gold Leader Club
status:
The Blacksheep Squadron of Pittston,
Pennsylvania
The Johnstown RC Club of Johnstown,
Pennsylvania
The Keystone RC Club of Harleysville,
Pennsylvania
SPARKS of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
State College Radio Control of State
College, Pennsylvania
Tuscarora RC Club of Schuylkill Haven,
Pennsylvania
Valley City Radio Control of Median,
Ohio
Valley RC Model Club of Sayre,
Pennsylvania
West Lake RC Club of North Olmstead,
Ohio
W.O.R.K.S. of West Carrollton, Ohio
Congratulations to each club for all their
positive efforts! If your club is not on the list
and you are unfamiliar with the program,
please contact Jay Mealy at AMA
Headquarters.
The Upper Valley Fun Fliers of Piqua,
Ohio, held its annual mall show March
15-17. The club displayed everything from
trainers to Giant Scale, and even a couple of
Old-Timers. It was a great opportunity to
recruit potential members and make the
public aware of this fun hobby.
The kids got a chance to fly on an RC
simulator and even some adults got a little
stick time. Everyone involved had a great
time.
Upper Valley Fun Fliers had a neat mall
display.
Is your trainer this nice?

Another group of “cool” fliers belong to
the Valley RC Model Club of Sayre,
Pennsylvania. In February, this club met at
the Blue Swan Airport for the club’s Snow
Fly.
