YOU SHOULD BE receiving your 2005
membership application and ballot in the
near future. Renewing your membership is
necessary; however, voting for the
Academy’s officers is more important. This
year’s election involves the office of
president. Please mark your ballot and
forward it to the proper address.
District III has a new frequency
coordinator. Ron Morgan of Scotland,
Pennsylvania, has agreed to assume this
responsibility. Ron has an extensive
background in electronics and knows the
complications that aeromodeling induces.
Ron is a former District III vice president
and presently oversees the entire Nats. We
are fortunate that we have a volunteer with
these credentials. If you need assistance with
any frequency problem, please contact Ron.
The Control Line World Championship
was an experience for any devoted modeler.
Perhaps the most enjoyable event was that
of Team Race. To see the effort put forth by
three pilots and three pit men during a race
was extremely exciting. These competitors
might be the “iron men of aeromodeling.”
Their skills and endurance were extreme.
Congratulations to all the USA teams for
their successful results. Special
congratulations to F2B World Champion
Bill Werwage of Berea, Ohio, for his
winning effort. Bill has been a longtime
competitor in this event and certainly
deserves to be World Champion!
Mike Palko’s electric stunter.
CL activity is booming in District III. We
have active clubs in Cleveland and Dayton,
Ohio, and Reading, Pittsburgh, and
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
CD John Connolly provided the
following information and pictures for this
year’s Philly Fliers’ Stunt Contest. Thirty
entrants enjoyed the event which was
highlighted by Mike Palko’s electric stunter.
Mike performed the entire Stunt pattern with
power to spare. He also placed sixth in
advanced at the Nats.
Pit line at the Philly Fliers’ contest.
Spectators and competitors enjoyed the
meet.
The Mon Valley Fliers hosted the club’s
first electric fly at the Cedar Creek County
Park. Keith Wilson was the CD and
provided these pictures of the action.
Ron Osinski demonstrated the capabilities
of an electric helicopter.
Old-Timer Spook won the Pilots’ Choice
award.
Keith Wilson was the CD of the Mon Valley
Electric Fly.
Dave Wacker won the Pilots’ Choice
award.
Jerry Leffel provided the following picture
of two Mud Ducks at the Beckley RC
club’s field in West Virginia. One of the
Ducks belongs to Marvin Dilley and the
other to Jerry.
