RC in the Hills Productions — Radio Control Expo

Terry Wisnewski has informed me that RC in the Hills Productions is proud to announce the first annual Radio Control Expo at the Mountaineer Race Track Gaming Resort in Chester, West Virginia. The three-day event will take place the last weekend in September. The dates for the 2005 show are September 30–October 2.

The venue is a fully climate-controlled, 70,000-square-foot building. In addition to abundant space for vendor booths, the expo will feature an indoor flying site for vendor demonstrations, an indoor car track, an indoor boat pond, and two 27 × 20-foot Jumbotrons, all under one roof. This will be a multimedia event attracting RC enthusiasts from a wide geographic area.

The mission of RC in the Hills Productions, LLC is to provide a yearly commercial venue for RC enthusiasts, their friends, and families at a recognized resort offering superb vendor and meeting facilities, as well as numerous on-site activities.

The Mountaineer Race Track and Gaming Resort is a world-class resort located approximately 35 minutes from the Greater Pittsburgh International Airport. Airport pickup service is available if needed.

There are roughly 400 hotel rooms available on-site, in addition to two stages of free live entertainment and dancing from 10 p.m. until 2 a.m. The resort also offers a piano bar, gaming rooms with more than 3,500 slots, horse racing, fine dining, casual dining, an on-site spa, a complete fitness center, and an indoor pool.

There is free on-site parking and shuttle bus transportation to all areas of the campus. The facilities at Mountaineer provide extensive activities for all interests. In addition to on-site lodging, there are more than 15 hotels within a 20-mile radius.

As the expo grows in popularity, many exciting events are planned. The Mountaineer campus has the capacity to expand into outdoor flying demonstrations, larger outdoor car tracks, and additional boat ponds.

Please join us at our inaugural event and help us build the finest all-in-one radio control event.

Greater Cincinnati Radio Control Club — Warbird Fly-In

The Greater Cincinnati Radio Control Club (GCRCC) held its first annual warbird fly-in on October 24, 2004. Entry qualifications required an aircraft of any make, model, or type that was built with military markings.

More than 30 pilots registered, resulting in over 70 aircraft representing the World War I, World War II, Korea, and Vietnam eras. Notable mentions include several Dr. I models, P-51 replicas of the Tuskegee Fighter Group, and an electric version of a German jet prototype.

Clear skies prevailed throughout the day, but as is typical of a beautiful fall afternoon in Cincinnati, winds were around 15 mph with gusts up to 20 mph, which limited some of the flying.

The GCRCC has been in existence for 45 years and has more than 200 members. It sponsors several fly-ins throughout the year and an annual air show that draws crowds in excess of 5,000 people. Those fly-ins include the Cliff Kell Memorial Giant Scale, a national-qualifier pylon race, an electric fly, rotorcraft events, and now a warbird fly-in.

In addition, the club raises money for spina bifida, local athletic teams, and Boy Scouts. The GCRCC has a sanctioned Air Show Team that performs demonstrations at full-scale aircraft shows at the Blue Ash Airport (Blue Ash, Ohio), Lunken Airport (Cincinnati), and the Grissom Air Force Base Museum (Bunker Hill, Indiana).

The club participates in several other civic events that make this club the King of the Queen City!
