Award to Ed Hawk.
Ed has never stopped loving and learning
from model planes. He is the driving force
behind the success of the area modelers. He
continues to promote the “total modeler”
and is a person who enjoys all facets of our
great sport. Congratulations Ed!
For several decades the Weak Signals had
a 10-acre field near Toledo, Ohio. During
that time, the club purchased additional
acreage but was still facing the problems
associated with suburban growth. New
houses and overfly caused the club to
reassess the field location and layout.
A committee, co-chaired by Dave Leach
and Dave Howard, was formed to establish a
field that was conducive to all club members
and the local community. As a result, the
entire field and clubhouse were relocated.
The new clubhouse is 30 x 80 feet and
the adjoining pilot shelter is 8 x 70 feet.
Many problems evolved during the
construction. Planning and zoning
compliance resulted in an 84-foot driveway
approach, two indoor bathrooms, a new
well, a retention basin, and an oil separator.
Delays in construction created by
permits, etc. caused a great deal of
aggravation; however, the new site was
finally opened in November, 2007.
Congratulations are extended to all those
involved. The following pictures illustrate
that the wait was worth it!

The program consisted of a video program,
auditorium display, and outdoor flight
demonstration.
