HI GANG. I have been pretty impressed by
some clubs out in the district. You have
been very kind and gracious to me and for
that, I thank you.
I had the opportunity to visit the Georgia
Model Aviators RC Club’s (GMARC)
Warbirds Over Atlanta. It was one of the
best-organized and best-run events I have
attended.
John Singer, Chris
Kennedy, and Larry
Towner, along with their
club staff, made model
aviation shine in a safe,
open-to-the-public
environment.
I had the opportunity
to meet with one of the
city commissioners who
attended, and he had only
good things to say about
this club!
The only surviving
member of the Enola Gay
was one of the event
guests! The Enola Gay
dropped the first atomic
bomb on Hiroshima,
Japan and Theodore
“Dutch Van Kirk was the
navigator! What an honor
to meet this American
hero at one of our
modeling events, Kudos
Georgia Model Aviators!
The GMARC has a
Big Brothers, Big Sisters
mentoring program. This
is what modeling is all about. We
bring the youth in, we mentor
them, and they will not depart
from that path when they get
older. I know. I was mentored in
the program 40 years ago!
I will be seeing most of you this
coming year and I can’t wait to
share the sky with you.
Stay safe!
