WELL FOLKS, this has been a very busy
time in the district! We have had the Joe
Nall, Top Gun, the Gathering of the Giants,
the Peach Pattern Classic, the East Coast
Huckfest in Orlando, Florida, and many
other great local events! I have met a great
many of you and I have had the pleasure of
flying with some of you.
I will come to see and meet most of you
in the near future and will do all in my
power to help all of you promote our hobby.
Your associate vice presidents (AVPs)
are very busy which is a good sign that we
are all very active in flying and promoting
the hobby. I have changed computers so if
you have a chance and want to send me an
email, direct it to [email protected].
The East Coast/West Coast Huckfest took
place this past May and in our district, the
Remote Control Association of Central
Florida (RCACF) hosted the event. Kirby
Keene and yours truly were the CDs and the
event was a great success.
Part of the proceeds of the Huckfest went
to the Wounded Warrior Project—a very
worthy cause. The weather was perfect, the
food was excellent, and the flying went on
from Thursday to Monday through the
Memorial Day weekend!
Thanks to Andy for the pictures.
John and Dillon Graves of Gravesrc.com.
Sponge Bob
made an
appearance.
Curtis Switzer at the sticks! He was the
winner at Top Gun and Joe Nall!

Humberto Pomales, AVP in Central
Florida, sent in this report on the Peach
Pattern Classic in Andersonville, Georgia.
“We got there for practice on Friday,
June 3, 2011, and there were 18 other pilots
already putting flights in. The contest took
place on Saturday and Sunday.
“We flew four rounds on Saturday and
two rounds on Sunday. Weather was perfect,
although a bit hot. There were 27 contestants
and the contest CD, Emory Schroeter, did a
fantastic job of running the event.
“This is growing to be one of the bestattended
contests and Hodges Hobbies right
on site is a perfect match to a perfect field.
Thanks to Mac Hodges and all of his crew
for providing such a great venue!”
