Hello District V!
This month, I had help from associate
vice presidents (AVPs) who attended
the 12th Southeast Electric Flight Festival
(SEFF), and provided great reports and
pictures!
Dave Wenzel from Georgia sent this
report in:
I attended SEFF on Friday and
Saturday. Wow! This was my first SEFF,
and it was amazing. There were all types
of electric aircraft and flying styles. The
number of registered pilots as of noon
on Saturday was 365, and there were an
estimated 1,100 spectators.
Matt Klos ran this year’s event and
there were some significant changes.
One was to put all of the vendors along
the flightlines. There were plenty of
flightlines and they were set up by flying
styles and the corresponding vendors
were right there with them.
The noontime demos were impressive.
The full-contact, full-throttle combat
was insane. Of course, Mac Hodges
made a terrific flight in his beautiful
B-29. As I was leaving, I stopped to
watch Mac’s Cub doing some loops
and stalls. It was a nice ending. This is a
“must event” for every electric flier in the
district! All pictures by Vern Horne.
Please log onto AMA’s website
and review the services that your
membership provides. AMA is the
largest model aviation organization
on the planet, yet most are not aware
of all of the services and information
available.
If you want to get the pulse of model
aviation, read the minutes of the EC
meetings and it will give you an idea
of where we are. The Government
Relations tab is full of relevant data and
much-needed information to dispel
rumors of what we can do and where
we can do it. If you have never visited,
you are missing out on a great resource!
Don Wise sent this in:
The Lake Area Radio Kontrol
Society (LARKS) put on a flying
demonstration and static display at the
SparkleBerry Country Fair on April 27
in Columbia, South Carolina. I ordered
200 FPG-9s for this event. I helped
some with the gliders and answered
questions when the club members
were occupied. The club also had
six simulators running, which were
constantly used.
