District V Report - 2009/12

Facilities
- The Makos RC Jet Club has two 500-foot paved runways, ideal for the most demanding aircraft.
Attendance and highlights
- 17 registered pilots
- A large number of spectators
- Notable aircraft included an electric-powered C-130 complete with its own RC tow vehicle.
Day one
The first day started early. I arrived at roughly 9 a.m., and there were already a few pilots flying and spectators checking out the aircraft. Throughout the day I caught flights by several turbine-powered models and had some great conversations with pilots.
Unfortunately, being South Florida, the rain began at approximately noon and did not let up until about 6 p.m.
Day two
On Sunday the weather cooperated and the event enjoyed a full day of flying.
