DECATUR, INDIANA: Here’s something
that your club might consider doing
sometime before next Christmas. Club
#2648, the Decatur Eagles RC Club, has
hosted what is called the “Shop with a Cop”
fly-in, cookout, and benefit for the last four
years. The purpose is to provide many
underprivileged children in Adams County,
Indiana, a chance to receive a Christmas
gift, where the parents could not afford to
supply their children with any Christmas
gifts.

these children to shop for needed supplies,
clothing, books, and toys also. Each child
chosen receives $100, of which 70% will be
used for clothing, books, and school
supplies. The Decatur Eagles club generated
enough money this time to help five
children.
This annual event provides all-day
surface demonstrations, RC cars and trucks,
flight demonstrations, and RC airlanes and
helicopters. Many other clubs help by
participating including the Fort Wayne
Flying Circuits, Celina Flying Sportsmen,
Huntington County Modelers Club, and the
Converse Flying Eagles.

Paul Swygart, club treasurer, presented the
check to patrolman Mark Cook of the
Decatur Police Department.
