District VI

DURING 2011, the AMA is celebrating its 75-year anniversary. From the small beginnings in 1936, it has grown into the large organization it is today.

I am looking for any AMA members who joined in the 1930s and 1940s. If you are part of either group or know someone who is, please send me the name. I would like to recognize these members in a future column.

St. Joseph, Missouri: Club #3577, the Barnstormers RC Club, held its Balsa Woodstock Air Show. This two-day event was held in cooperation with the local EAA chapter. Also attending was a local ultralight flying club.

Day one was set aside for demonstration flying by various groups and day two was an open flying day.

There was time on the first day to honor lifetime achievement award winners. The Beckett and Heyde families were honored for their work in promoting RC in the St. Joseph area.

John Shipley sent in the pictures and information.
