Recent Activities
Two clubs, the Summit Valley R/C Flyers and the Peoria R/C Modelers, sponsored a static display at the Prairie Air Show in Peoria, Illinois. Club members spent two days at the show talking to interested people and potential modelers. Members of both clubs enjoyed a great time, and the Air Force Thunderbirds were fantastic as usual. James Martin, who sent in the pictures and information, wrote, "Several people we talked to commented that they had visited our flying sites and enjoyed watching the flying activity." What a great way to show our sport to nonmodelers.
Vernon Coop from Joliet, Illinois, sent in pictures of a radio-control Cub that went fishing. Earl Wormsley’s RC Cub snagged a fisherman’s line. The Cub wound up with 50 yards of line on the propeller, dragging the fishing pole and a half-pound catfish out to the airplane. Vernon also sent pictures of his Duck, a 1/4-scale model that weighs 50 pounds, has a 10-foot wingspan and is 10 feet in length. A 3W150 powers the Duck. The pictures show his great workmanship.
