  • Duration: four months
  • Weather cancellations: only two nights lost

  • Fuel consumed: 11 gallons
  • Students: 31 participants

This is a major program aimed at increasing club membership.

Schaumburg, Illinois

The Chicagoland RC Modelers Inc. club was invited to provide a static display at Schaumburg Airport’s first Aviation Celebration. The club displayed airplanes during the two-day event.

Steve Fortman, club president, organized a free raffle for a one-time trainer flight; a number of visitors signed up. All registrants were called, told they had won a trainer flight, and invited to the field on a specific date. Club members Greg Ross, Ray Donati, Dave Rosenblatt, and Brian Nowak brought trainers with buddy boxes.

Many families attended, and nearly every family member took a turn at flying.
