District VII
After all these years of writing a column, I finally made a cardinal mistake. I neglected to give photo credits for the pictures in my April 2011 column. The images were submitted by Lloyd and Starla Swanson. To them both I apologize. In keeping with the apology, the following contribution is also by Lloyd and Starla.

Lloyd Swanson
Lloyd is the Iowa associate vice president and covers the eastern half of Iowa and the extreme west side of Minnesota and Wisconsin — quite a chunk of real estate.
Lone Tree Flyers fun-fly
Lloyd attended the first fun-fly of the newly chartered AMA club, the Lone Tree Flyers (Charter Club 5005). The organization is located south of Iowa City.
Welcome aboard, Lone Tree Flyers.
Iowa City Aerohawks
This next picture is of Tyler Heath and his dad, Andrew. A picture is worth a thousand words as they wait their turn at the Iowa City Aerohawks annual air show.
Northern Alliance Military Fly-in — Owatonna, Minnesota
The event included a tribute to World War II Major Robert Zenz, shown seated behind a Boeing B-17 model of the aircraft he piloted. During the war he was wounded when his airplane was shot down. He was captured but was able to escape from the prisoner-of-war camp by simply walking out. He was subsequently decorated for his actions.
Major Zenz and Joe VanReeth were photographed together at the fly-in. Sadly, Major Zenz passed away 10 days after attending the event.
Until next time, fly safely, have fun, and take a youngster to the field.
