I WANT TO take a minute to use this
column for an announcement. Bren Bailey,
an Associate Vice President (AVP) for the
Upper Peninsula of Michigan, has
submitted his resignation. Bren and his
family are moving to another part of
Michigan, therefore, he is resigning.
Bren did a great job for AMA while an
AVP, and his abilities and performance
will be sorely missed. In the meantime, I
will be looking into a replacement for
Bren.
District VII AVP Tom Pierce and I had
the pleasure of an invitation to a
celebration of the Radio Control Club of
Detroit (RCCD). Rarely does one have the
opportunity to partake in this sort of
celebration.
The occasion was to celebrate RCCD’s
50th anniversary as an AMA-chartered
club. It was quite a celebration with
historical examples of what the club has
endured throughout the years.
It also gave Tom and me an opportunity
to present the RCCD with a flag with the
logo and the dates on it to three of the four
founding members. The fourth member,
Ernie Kratzet, was in Florida at the time of
the presentation.
Congratulations to RCCD and I hope
the club will continue for another 50 years.
Tom Pierce (R) and I (L) presented the
banner to founding members Jack
Lemon, Edward Lash, Willie McMath.
The founding members of RCCD.
Tom and I addressed the crowd.
Mike Busseo sends in the next report. The
Willmar Area R/C Club of Willmar,
Minnesota, held its annual Mall Show on
Saturday, May 3, 2003.
Club members (L-R) Dennis Crosby, Matt
Burns, John Innes, Josh Gesch,
Mike Buzzeo, John Lambing, Randy
Dickerson, Harn Retmer, and Bill
Johnson.
Josh Gesch flies the club’s radiocontrolled
blimp to attract attention.

John Innes, Mike Buzzeo, Harn Retmer,
and Bill Johnson discuss John’s Saito
100-powered Stik.
As many of you know, I generally sign off
my column with “fly safe, fly smart, and
have fun. Introduce a youngster to our
hobby” and the letters C.A.V.U.
Well Steve Szuminski of Saline,
Michigan, sent this picture of his license
plane. Thanks, Steve. It is much
appreciated. C.A.V.U.
