Report
There are three items I want to bring to the District VII column this month. First of all, as you may know by now, Dave Brown has been reelected as AMA president for three more years. Congratulations to Dave.
Approximately 15% of the total eligible voters cast their ballots. Three years ago it was only 12%. The point I want to make is that it takes all of the membership working together to keep our hobby sport growing, not just a small percentage.
District VII has a new website—www.amadistrictvii.org—that is growing in small increments. It was established for the use of the members of District VII. There are forums for clubs only, for-sale items, and how-to and discussion forums that could and should be active.
Come on, people! This was set up for your use. Not every club has its own site, but at least one club member has access to a computer. Why not post your club calendar on the District VII site? Do you have questions about what's going on? The forum is the place to ask.
Pete Waters, one of District VII's frequency coordinators, has loaned out one of our frequency scanner/analyzers and would like to get it back. If your club has it, please return it to me as soon as possible so other clubs can use it when the occasion arises. These units do need attention from time to time.
Hopefully those winter projects we all started are progressing nicely and are nearing completion. As every year for the past 50, the Toledo Weak Signals will sponsor its annual model expo. This year it will be April 1–3, 2005. If you have never attended, you don't have any conception of what you are missing. The write-ups and pictures in various magazines do not do the event justice.
As usual, I'll be there if you would like to say hello. Just stop by the AMA booth and ask for me. I'd be happy to meet you.
Till next time, introduce a youngster to our hobby and see how much fun it can be. Fly smart and fly safely. C.A.V.U.
I receive quite a few pictures for reports. There is only so much space per issue, so I am trying to show some of the pictures that didn't make the column the first time. Here is a small collage for you.
