160 MODEL AVIATION
FOR ME, the building and flying of model
aircraft is a social activity. Club meetings,
swap meets, auctions, trade shows, fly-ins,
and even competitions are all just the excuse
that I use to be around those who “speak
model airplane!”
AMA is the glue that bonds modelers
together.
Were the AMA not to exist and to fulfill
the above social aspect of modeling, we
would have to create one! Thanks to all who
have preceded me in this hobby/sport and
prepared it for me to enjoy so much!
Last November in Fort Worth, Texas a new
nonprofit corporation management team
under the direction of Ron Abir assumed the
task of organizing the SouthWestern
Aeromodeling Conference (SWAC). Those
who attended had a great experience flying
there and buying the show specials.
The fifth SWAC is planned for
November 10-11, 2006, at the Fort Worth
Convention Center in Texas. To keep up
with its progress or to be a pivotal part of it
as an exhibitor, attendee, or volunteer
worker, please see www.flyswac.com and
keep up with its progress.
The following photos are of the from the
2005 SWAC event.
Flying models, yes, but also making
memories that last forever.

Fellowship. Dr. Sandy Frank.
